View Full Version : Sleep Mode Time Before Failure?

Does anyone know,

If an HP color LaserJet (3800dtn, CP4005n) were left on all the time (and spent most of its time in sleep mode) and only used every few days intermittently, how fast would the fuser/heater fail compared to turning the printers on and off every few days when actually needed to print something?

AND

Does it use up a lot of extra toner to turn the printers on just to print a couple of pages and then turn them off?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Your power management won't affect the fuser or toner. (It won't help or hurt.)

It only really makes a difference in regards to your utility bill at the end of the month :-)

Thank you very much.

That's what I was hoping, and yet even so I almost can't believe that the fuser heater can be on (even if not full working temperature) while in sleep mode and not burn out faster than if it was off, and that all the noise when the printers are first turned on are not the sound of toner being pushed around somewhere.

I know for sure turning an inkjet printer on starts a process of setup that definitely uses ink pumped to the printhead.

I really appreciate the advice I get on this forum. Any other thoughts welcome.
