Hi, I bought a 2100TN printer at a garage sale (have 2200DN already, great printer!), replaced seperation pads on both trays (thanks to another post) and cleared up jams, but what a bummer when I connected it to the network-no action. I noted that only the top link light on our ethernet hub comes on (known good cable) as opposed to all three lights, so I am inclined to get another Jet direct card from ebay (10$?). Am I on the right track? Will any jet direct card work or had I better get the exact replacment? The Jet direct card in it now is a 600N J3110A, thanks for the help!
PS I have about 12 garage sell bucks in it now, while I paid 20$ at the garage sale, it also came with unopened toner that fits our other one, so I figure the toner 'washed" the original purchase price to zero.

How about I take the working jet direct ethernet card out of the working 2200dn, and just try it for a bit in the 2100TN? Would i expect that card to work? I could verify that is the problem, if that card would work. Thanks for any help, and I dont want to mess up the one working printer.

These NIC's are famous for coming unseated. Try reseating it three times to wipe off any corrosion. Then do a cold reset and run a test page and see if the NIC is there. Sometimes the printer can see the NIC but the NIC cannot talk to the Ethernet cable. Swapping the NIC should not hurt the good NIC or the good printer. If the humidity is below 40% wear a static strap and use a static bag. If all else fails you could try to bake the NIC. We heat the processor chip on these to ~380 degrees F. to resolder the ball grid array on the bottom of the chip. On the NIC's it works about 50% of the time. I use a 500 watt heat gun and a thermometer with a laser pointer. Most chip bakers use their oven set at 350 for eight minutes. If all fails then buy a nic. The 600 and 610's are good but the 615's are mostly failing because of processor chip ball grid array solder failures. The 620's use ROHS solder and are very reliable.

OK Big update, I did the card swap and installed the 610N card from the working 2200DN and yes! the 2100tn is now working like a champ, so the card would be the issue. As I track down a new card on ebay, do I need to go back with the 600N that was installed in the machine (I did not see many available, and they cost more) or can I use the 610N, or is some card more reliable and common? I dont want to get the wrong one and find out I have lost some function. thanks so much for the help.
