HP Laserjet 5 Prints Gray Left Side Page

HP Laserjet 5 is printing gray on the left side of the page.
Any suggestions?

might be toner or fuser
half test is the tool to be used to determine this in this case.

place a piece of paper into tray one, do a test page and when the paper reaches nearly into the machine open the lid and inspect the paper and the lift the shutter of the toner and inspect the shiny part which is the drum. if thats clean then its the fuser, if its on the paper prior to the fuser then its the toner cartridge wiper blade that is bad.
