Got flashing light problem. Have tried reset (Turning on with go button - all three lights come on but when released amber flashing light continues) & turning on with both buttons depressed - same result. The motor starts when the printer is turned on.

It seems, from what little I know, that this is maybe caused by one of sensors sticking however:
1. I do not know how to identify them or what they look like
2. I do noty know where to find them
3. I do not know what to do with them when I know 1&2!

Can anyone please help here.

Thanks

David.

We have a lot of them here. When this happens you really need another 2200 to troubleshoot the problem. If it has a NIC, power the printer down and then pull the NIC and see if it works. After you swap the formatter and the fuser there is not much you can do. Check the paper present sensor above the paper tray, if it is stuck it may be telling the printer that it is out of paper. Check the sensor and flag in the fuser. The little spring may be damaged or displaced. The flag may be broken.

You can find a free download for the manual by going to google, search for HP 2200 + service manual. Put it on a CD if you do not have room for it on your hard drive. There are more tests you can run listed in the manual.

Since a replacement printer is less than the cost of a formatter or fuser there is not much point in buying replacement parts hoping they will cure the problem. I have seen them on the Internet for less than $50.

Actually, these 2200's are known for a laser scanner failure which can freeze the whole machine with a blinking 'fatal' light just as you described.

We sell the scanners at PrinterTechs ... 866-352-7108.
