Folks,

The printer i am working on is having intermittent jams. When the paper tray is full the printer prints fine. When it gets down to the last 20/30 pages it starts to jam at each page. It seems to be jamming where the paper exits the tray.
Is it the spring tension in the tray or is it worn down roller treads? What i dont understand is the fact that the printer prints fine when the tray has alot of paper!

Thanks,

David. :)

What type of printer is it?

Hi David,

I had an HP JL 2100 with the same problem. The guides that the paper tray slides in & out on were badly worn. They are part of the printer frame. I built them up with epoxy & then covered them with filament tape to provide a more slippery surface than the epoxy. It now feeds paper to the bottom of the tray.

Good luck,

Ken
