As noted in the title, I am working on a HP Laserjet 4015, and trying to fix a jamming area. Paper feeds from the tray but always gets stuck underneath the toner cartridge. Using tray 1, paper has no issues whatsoever and prints fine. I have tried replacing: the toner, the front feeding mechanism, the rollers on the tray AND the feeder rollers, tried swapping out known working trays, but no dice. Anybody got any ideas?

Does it always jam, or does it work sometimes? Exactly where does the leading edge of the paper stop? Can you see any nicks or folded corners on the leading edge? This may indicate a small scrap of paper hiding in the paper path somewhere. Cut a 2 inch strip out of a manila folder and poke it up through the paper path along both sides and see if you can dislodge anything.
If not then you may have a sensor that went bad, or the printed circuit that talks to that sensor may be bad. The service manual has the locations of the sensors and they are not usually obvious to the casual observer. Sometimes the maintenance routines have a sensor test option. If this machine gets lots of use or cheap dusty paper stock then a good cleaning with compressed air might do the trick.
Please let us know what you find!

What error code is being triggered on the screen?
Could be unexpected paper size... perhaps tray 2 isn't set for the right size and that triggers the jam?
Or, if the page has at least some toner on it and is "bunched up"/wrinkled slightly, that would means it was trying to leave the toner area but was unable to enter the fuser. I would replace the fuser in that case; fuser isn't doing its job of pulling the page in. If it runs loud, you might also need to replace the gear that turns/drives the fuser.
