Cartridge error

I have an HP 5610 OfficeJet All-In-One that was given to me and it was working & the cartridges were over half full when it was put in storage for several months. Now when I try to use it I get a cartridge error I reset the printer per HP’s instructions without result. I would not like to buy new carts and have it still not work. Any suggestions will be appreciated I know that some of the older carts could be reset by covering some of the contacts is this still possible?

You may have dried ink clogging the print heads. Try soaking the heads in warm water.

Did that earlier and there is plenty of ink flow.
