My son drop something on my manual feed tray which I believe is tray 1 on my 4050N and it fell apart. All of the pieces are intact and I have been able to put it back together and it works. But I still have a black piece of plastic that remains out. I have looked at other printers and do not see where this piece goes.

I have attached a photo of the piece onto this post. I hope it comes across correctly. Does anyone know where I can get a diagram for accurately re-assembling this part?

Thanks a lot

You can get a free download of the service manual from:
www.devicemanuals.com/.../Service%20and%20Repair/HP/HP-LaserJet-4050N-Printer-Service-Manual-==TXpFeE5UVTQ=.html

You will need high speed Internet and most of a pack of paper.

The part appears to go on the bottom left of the "tray 1 pickup assembly".

It's on page 8-14, item 21 of the service manual.
Another, better picture is on page 8-26. There is no part number for it.
He must have dropped something big and heavy to tear that assembly apart. Could you tell us what it was? Here I've been using a screwdriver removing many screws to get the assembly loose. I don't understand how you can drop something on the tray and get all the screws to back out and have the pickup assembly jump out of the printer. I think you left something out of your story.

Good Luck
