Hi,

I have a HP 4200 that has started to crumple paper along with some toner smear down the left hand side of the page.

I'm hesitant to buy new fuser since the supplies status page says fuser at 53%-- that is, 111483 pages remaining before main kit needed.

Admittedly, I didn't do the halfway test yet. Any advice?

It is very likely that your fuser sleeve has torn. The OEM fuser on the 4200 is notoriously short-lived, with many not making it to the full maintenance cycle. If you remove the fuser and look at the sleeve (it will be grey-ish) you will be able to see if it has creased or is beginning to tear, in which case you will need to replace the fuser.

ok thank you! Printer Techs doesn't seem to sell just fusers by themselves? I could not find that anyway. Looks like I'll go ahead and get a whole maintenance kit. mw
