LaserJet 4250 Font card (CF) "CARD SLOT NOT INITIALIZED"

Anyone know how to address this! I would be eternally grateful!

Saw these slots on the formatter board of the very few 4250's that I have worked on and did not know what they were for. It seems you can download special fonts and forms into these cards and they will keep the data even when the power is off. Go to Google and put in HP 4250 + Font Cards and a nice blurb from HP will talk you through it.

Question: do you have Font Cards plugged into the formatter? If so, power the printer down and reseat them. If the humidity is below 40% be sure to wear a static strap or keep one hand on a metal part of the frame so you don't zap the cards. Reseat them three times to help wipe off any corrosion on the contats. If you do not have these cards installed then maybe the bios or the firmware is corrupted. Have you tried a cold reset? Reloaded the firmware, even if it is up to date? Please let us know what you find!
