HP LaserJet 4350 - Running too much??

Hi,
I've just put a 4350n in my office. The printer seems wake up every 10 minutes of so and sounds like it is going to print something, makes a noise for about 4 of minutes, then goes quiet. 10 minutes later it repeats. It happnes if it is in 'ready' or 'sleep mode'. Nothing is sent to the printer and it does this with the network cable either connected or disconnected. If in 'sleep mode' it stays in 'sleep mode'.

Other printers I have had haven't behaved like this, especially while in sleep mode.

Is this normal?

It's not normal. Look into replacing the formatter if it bothers you.

Another solution would be to "lower" the Sleep Mode time so that it goes into Sleep Mode fairly quickly. That way it won't keep trying to "wake itself up"
