Hi all,

Newbie here.

I'm in the market for a basic all-in-one inkjet printer/scanner/copier. I've stumbled across http://ramblax.co.uk/p~p-89657295~Hewlett-Packard-Deskjet-F2480-CB730A-All-In-One-InkJet-Printer.aspx repeatedly - is it any good for the cash?

Thanks in advance!

We have had a few of these come through the shop and they seem to work well. I am assuming you do not need a FAX capability? If you are going to be doing a lot of printing you need to factor in the cost of the ink. Photo printing requires a special cartridge that is quite expensive. They make their money off the ink, not the printer.

Hey Al,
If these printers work well, why are they coming to your shop??;)
Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Thanks. I won't need fax capability :)

How about this one - http://ramblax.co.uk/p~p-88095957.aspx ? Any benefits to going with one over the other?

Hi Redcow:
We support disaster operations from the lower forty eight, to Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Yap, to Pureto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. When a disaster is declared we ship Laptops, Printers, FAX machines, Cellphones, GPS receivers, and sometimes Plotters, out to support the disasters. When the disaster closes down we get all this stuff back. Most is in pretty good condition. Some has been rode hard and put up wet, like an ink jet fax machine that ran 29 hours a day, 9 days a week. Some is broken. Sometimes parts are missing. It all has to be cleaned, tested, updated firmware if needed, new software loaded on the laptops, and so on. Keeps us busy! We always appreciate your knowlege, wisdom, and wit!

Best Regards.

Al

The second one is better if you are going to be printing a lot of pictures.

Thanks :) I probably will, so I'll go for the latter.
