I'm receiving an error message on the display of an HP 4200tn stating that "Maintenance is required". The maintenance kit is not available at the moment. Is there anywhere in particular on the HP site that would assist in this?

This issue we're having is that documents of any length will print out the first page. After that it's queationabe whether the rest of the document will print or just the first page (as of late).

The 'maintenance required' message shouldn't have anything to do with the printer stopping after the first page.
Do you get an error when the printing stops? if not, the problem is likely to be at the computer side.

You can reset the maintenance counter as follows:
Press and hold the “Select” key while powering ON the printer, until all three lights flash once and then remain on. Then release the key. At this point, the display should read “Select Language.” Use the ‘up arrow’ or ‘down arrow’ key to scroll to “New Maintenance Kit” and select it. The printer will perform the reset and then go into its normal power on initialization and warm-up.

I'm not that familiar with the HP 4200 but on the 4000 series the mainteance messaage is automatically generated after x number of prints. It has no relation to real ware and tear. To turn off the message scroll through the menu until you reach the Configuration menu. Enter and scroll down and see if there is an option to 'turn of the maintenance message'. If so select and press GO/Resume. If you don't have any problems (as the Americans say) don't fix it.

PS This is not a perminant turn off (Well for some it is...)

Resetting the maintence message on the 42/4300 is deifferent to resetting it on the 40/4100 series.
In the service mode you can change the maintenance count and interval.

How long has the 'maintenance' message been on the printer?
It's actually a warning. Sure you can reset the counters, it's like seeing the wear bars on your tires and driving on them until the rubber shreds.
If the feed or pickup rollers are worn there's a chance that one page will feed and the following pages may not. Are you get a 13.X error?

The maintenance kit is Q2429-67904...install it.
