HP Deskjet 460

HP Deskjet 460 Tricolor cartridge indicator light flashing.
Manual says: 'Print cartridge needs attention'.

Removed cartridge and cleaned all contacts to no avail.
Replaced tricolor cartridge with new one, problem persists.

Done factory reset, again no luck.
Printer works fine with cartridge removed (ie. printing black only).

Any help would be much appreciated

We have a lot of these here where I work and this is a very common problem. Since this is a 460 I am pretty sure it is no longer under warranty. We have two theories about this issue: one of the ribbon cables going to the pen carriage is broken or there is something wrong with the motherboard.

I did not know it would work without the color cartridge installed. Looks like you now have a black ink printer! Doubtful you could find anyone to fix it, these are kind of considered disposable. Sorry!
