Have a client with an HP 3700. The black fades out on the left side of the page. Installed new transfer roller and it corrected the problem for a few sheets, then the problem reoccurred. Has anyone had this problem with the 3700. If so, what was the solution?
Thanks.

There are a few things you could try. Have you swapped the black toner cartridge? If you do not have a spare available you can go into the menu and disable "Cartridge Check" so you can put a different color into the black slot. Use cyan or magenta since the yellow is difficult to see.
The laser light that writes the image on the toner cartridge drum travels to the cartridge via light pipes. Look on the toner cartridge and you will see the port. Remove all the cartridges and give everything a good bath in compressed gas from one of those cans. Gently clean the light ports and try it again. Let us know what you find.

Check the contacts on the left side. One of the three may be pushed in and not connecting correctly.
Bend it out a bit with a small tool. Clean the laser.

Figured it out. On the door assembly, three are two white clips with springs. One was missing, not allowing the door to position correctly when closed. Put a new clip and spring on the door and it works like a champ now.

Good! These are real beasts, and prone to many glitches. Keep posting!
