Hp 3005 52.00 error

Too soon old and too late smart. One of these came in with no toner cartridge. I grabbed a test cartridge (51X, refilled in China) and put it in. The printer ran the POST sequence OK but when I tried to print something I got the 52.00 error, laser scanner assy not detecting the laser beam. Went and got one from a parts machine and put it in. As I was installing it a red flag went up in my old brain. The test cartridge that I grabbed had no flag on it to uncover the laser! Duh! I had seen this before! On the right side of the cartridge is a piece of plastic sticking up, looks like the rudder on a small plane. It pushes back a plastic actuator that raises a button on the bottom of the laser scanner to uncover the laser. We, unfortunately, get some cartridges refilled overseas and we have seen a couple of these flags broken off. I glue them back on with All-Purpose plumbing cement and cleaner. Let it set up overnight and it is good to go. Hope this helps someone else out there!
