This printer sounds like gears grinding near the swing plate assy. I looked at the swing arm gear and saw little shavings, gear seemed ok, it is at 100K. I learned how to replace swing arm gear on the 4250 thanks to printertech.com, thank you, but the 4345 looks different. First, am I on the right path and is replacing the swing plate assy gear an option? I just picked up a 4345 to learn myself on,lol.

PrinterTechs has a great turorial on how to replace the swing plate in the 4345. It might not be obvious but one of the gears in that swing plate is probably chewed up. Can't really see it sometimes but will be quite obvious once you get it out. Murphy

You're right that installing this on a 4345mfp is a different, more involved process...

If you bought the swing plate assembly from us (PrinterTechs) let us know :-) We can give you a set of instructions specifically for the 4345 (these instructions are not on our website).

I thought that the prime objective of this forum was to help printer techs, not sell parts.
On that note Crash, I emailed you the 4345 swingplate replacement directions. It is large. If Verizon won't deliver it to you, I'll break it down into smaller parts.

RedCow :-) Instructions are valuable --> especially ones that we spend time to create ourselves. (I'm not talking about HP's black-and-white fuzzy pictures , half-accurate instructions from the Service Manual.) It takes our time to take pictures, write descriptions, etc. We do have a lot of instructions for free on our web site ! :-) Other instructions (like our power supply instructions, etc.) we consider to have invested a lot of time in so if people are going to use our custom instructions to install parts, I think it's fair to at least ask them to purchase the parts from us :-)

The instructions are probably not a big deal to me, I have over 40 years of experience working on this type of equipment. I did order 8 of them from you. I would have liked to have read through them before installing the parts as most of these printers receive fax's throughout the day and I wanted to do this proceedure as quickly as possible.

Did you ever receive the instructions that I set to u?

It be nice to hear a "thanks for the attachment" or "I never received them."
