I have a strange line on printouts all of a sudden. the paper has got a perfectly straight line, like it's been folded or scored, about 2/3 of the way across the sheets all the way down the page. I've done a halfway test and it's fine so it's happening after it's passed through the toner. there is no ink on the line and apart from the line the print quality is perfect. I dont get any error messages and can't see anything in the paper path. any ideas anyone?

Looks like you need a fuser.

The fuser comes right out. Open the back door, release the latch, remove the two screws and pop out the bottom corners. Remove the paper guide. Disconnect the wires and remove one small screw and it comes right out. Inspect the rollers for damage or foriegn stuff like the remains of a sticker that is stuck on the roller. Usually it is the grey teflon sleeve that rides over the heat lamp that is breaking up. These sleeves cost about $20 and are not difficult to change.
