I have an HP LJ P3005dn that only duplexes if the printer is connected via a USB cable!
If I connect it through an ethernet cable, it will not duplex.

Anybody else seen this?

Thanks,

Try a firmware update, These are shabbily made, and the NIC goes out a lot.
Can you print at all through the network? Do you have a 64mb chip?

I did the upgrade before I placed the printer...
I wonder if the FW upgrade is the issue?

Check the drivers ... see if they match up exactly between the one you were using for Ethernet connection and the one you were using for USB Connection.

Try downloading a driver directly from HP.com rather than using the built-in Microsoft drivers.

We have a lot of 3005's here and have seen them do some strange things. If the update completed successfully that is not likely to be the problem IMHO. Can you get to this printer via the network cable from another computer? That might resolve a driver issue, which for sure could be the problem. The formatters for these are notoriously flakey. If you have no spare 3005 that you could swap formatters with you could try doing a cold reset, disable the onboard NIC and put a plug in NIC, like a 620, and see if that fixes it. If so it would be less expensive to replace the formatter than to use a NIC.

If you enter the ip of the printer you will see a configuration page. Does your printer say it's a Q7815A or does it say it's a P3004 CXXXXA?

I have the same issue and i suspect this is related to the fact that my formatter board needs to be updated to the correct model. Now i am trying to find a file that will do that, but i can't find any. Does anyone here know how to fix this? i found this on a hp forum: http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1269374625191+28 353475&threadId=1353664

I tried e-mailing one of them but no reply...

edit: and here is an even better post http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1125000

anyone with any idea? Do you have the same problem btw where your printer thinks it's a P3004?
