The printer's 2nd tray has 11x17 paper in it and it is having a paper feed problem. THey printer pulls the paper approx 1/2 inch and then registers a feed error. I have replaced 2 different pickup feed rollers and have the same problem each time, it randonly pulls paper. I have tried paper from several different batches from different vendors and have the same problem. Please advise other problems that me be causing this issue.
Thanks

Take a close look at the paper tray settings in tray 2. If the paper is too tight sometimes it cannot grab the paper and get it moving. Check the guides on the sides of the paper too. There should be just a little slack. If the rear guide is too far back then sometimes the paper will be a tad late in getting to the first sensor. We have seen a few trays over the years that just would not work but there did not seem to be anything wrong with them.

There is a "D" shaped roller(s) that pick up the paper and some cylindrical rollers that keep it moving along. Often all of them need to be changed if the page count is high.

Can you swap the tray with one from a sister printer? Sometimes a good bath in compressed air/gas can clear up this kind of a problem. Dusty rollers do not feed well.

Please let us know what you find!

I noticed the paper is catching on the little verticle tabs on the tray. Does the seperation pad actualy lift the paper up a little bit and if so could this be causing the problem? Thanks for your input.

Sorry, cannot help you with that question. Usually when the separation pad is bad it feeds multiple sheets of paper sometimes.

I found the seperation pad was missing the spring and so it was not pushing the paper up to the next roller set.
