I have a noise which is generated on 4200 and 4250 fusers.

Between 4 - 7 seconds in the attachment you can here the noise plus on top of this which my phone cannot record is instead of the smooth fuser noise you get a shhhh like running water when ever the fuser rotates.

I'm part of a company that repairs fusers and this is a noise which we can't solve.

Fuser has had new bushings, all 3 gears, pressure roller, film sleeve and all clean with replaced grease etc (same as all fusers).

We know its not the new parts as these are used 100's of times on other fusers with no problems.

Any ideas guys?

Edit: Also like to add the printer we use for testing is the same through out all tests so it just leaves the fuser at fault. Also this sound was recorded during warm-up not printing, it does make the noise when printing as well.

Try to find a rebuilt fuser that does not make the noise then swap parts to try to locate the source? Sometimes a mechanic's stethescope will help. A piece of vinyl tubing about 1/4" or 3/16" will also work. Put one end in your ear and fish around with the other end to see if you can locate the noise.

Let us know what you find!

swing plate assemblies that are worn will mimic fuser noise, i.e. growl, chatter, etc. When you remove the fuser do you see a pile of grey or black "dust" in the area where the fuser drive gear mates to the swing plate drive gear? If so, good idea to replace swing plate assembly or at least swing plate gear.
