Running a Mac, OS X.5.8. "Phantom print jobs" means that when I have the HP P1505 set up as best I can [it was previously working just fine; can't suggest what has changed], and I direct a print job to it, connected with USB; the job instantly shows as "complete" in the printer's window [name?], despite the fact that the printer has done nothing, and will do nothing. Restarting the printer or the Mac has no effect.

I've removed the printer from the printer list [Sys Prefs Print & Fax control panel]. Downloaded, from HP, "driver ljP1000P1500-OSX-fulsol-v1.0.6.dmg" and re-installed the driver, but can't find the PrinterDescriptionDocument [PDD] for it when I try to add the P1505 to my printer list.

Suggestions?

You may not be getting all the files. Turn off your windows firewall, and your anitvirus when at the HP site. Then run the install from there.

I don't have a 'windows firewall,' running a Mac, and am not aware of any firewall. My antivirus software [VirusBarrier, Intego] is currently inactivated, because it's been causing ugly crashes. I use FireFox [with the add-on No Script, which blocks alot of stuff] at the HP site to download the disk image I cited; are you suggesting that the installer packaged in it is incomplete?

Why do you think the print jobs are "phantoms" that show being complete but are not?
