This started a few weeks ago... We feed the occasional envelope via the manual tray and it seems like it doesnt even try to pickup the paper until about the 3rd attempt. You can see it doesnt lift the paper sometimes
We changed the roller/pad and still the same
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Use a small well focused flashlight and see if the roller is actually turning. Check the Tray one paper sensor flag and clean the photocell assembly if you can get at it.

Is it just envelopes that are misfeeding?
How about letter paper?
The DC Controller controls the clutches that tray 1 uses. And the motors.

Sorry about the delay in responding
I took a look and made some more tests....
Yes the rollers move
Yes it happens to paper & envelopes
It seems that if the paper is not pushed completely in and lined up squarely
it will not catch on the roller properly.
It is very picky/touchy... some feed ok and some dont....
I changed the pad and roller but still has issues
I am not sure it this matters but the printer seems to squeak and groan at times...
I recently cleaned all the paths and replaced the normal rollers/pads and maintenance kit
Thanks in advance

It is possible that the problem is a jammed piece of paper. Another problem may be two small separation pad, they may block the paper.
How about letter paper (tray 2)?

Tray 2 works fine...
I am going to replace the separator pad and pickup roller again and see what happens
