Can I make the HP LJ P3005 network ready by replacing the non network formatter board with the network formatter board, are the boards interchangeable?

Not for this model; on this model the actual "identity" of the printer is stored on the DC controller. If you install a network formatter on a non-network P3005, the network port will not be available.

HP varies the storage location of the "identity" of the printer from model to model.

Thank You...I found out there are formatter problems with this model, my serial number is not within the service note # C01215806. I found for problems with the network formatter board to use the formatter board (part # Q7847-61004) and it has stopped the problems. Another solution is the non network board and add a Jet Direct, there is no parallel port but is a parallel card that slots the P3005 formatter board HP1284B parallel card J7972G...If your non network Q7847-61002
