I've been battling with a very well use Laserjet 4000N the entire day.
With help from this site as well as a lot of internet searching, I was able to find the problem that's been lingering.

First I got printer codes 41.5 and then a 13.1
I cleaned and reseated the gray rollers and that didn't help.
I tore the printer apart as far as I could go looking for a solenoid next to an "L" bracket that I couldn't find. Blew a lot of dust out anyway.
Well whatever I did the codes have not come back.

However one of the old issues is still here.. When I goto print a config page, it prints the page and all seems fine. When I go and print it again, a black page shoots out as fast as I can push the Select button. and then the config page spits out.

Before, I was getting a paper jam error, whereas nothing was jammed.
I'm honestly willing to live with this because I'm tired of looking at this poor printer.

Any ideas what's causing this to get a blank sheet readied, but no codes kicking in??

Thank you!

Both are media feed issues. Could be paper size settings.
Pull the MP assy. and replace the feed assy.
Check the base for a sticking solonoid in the P/U assy. {remove the engine}

replace the following parts:

feed assembly
4 pickup rollers that are shaped of the letter D these are in tray 2
2 Feed rollers also in tray 2
Torque Limiter
Clean the soleniod in tray 2 assembly and place eletrical tape around the metal plate.

Doing this will solve this problem.
