I was having paper james with my HP Laser Jet 5 and I did some resarch and then decided to replace the Upper and Lower Delivery Rollers. I bought a kit of the Internet and it came in today and I replaced them. Turned the printer on and now on the LCD is displays: Remove Paper Jam. Their is no paper jam in the printer and I can not clear this message. Is their a sensor I need to reset or something like that to fix their error?
Thank you in advance for your help,
John

HP LaserJet 5 printer is broken (every time it tries to print it gets a paper jam). I believe it is due to worn delivery rollers inside of the printer. I found a product to replace the delivery rollers in an attempt to fix the printer.
I got the part in today and replaced the Upper and Lower Delivery Rollers. The kit did not include the New Drive Gear...
I tried to rpint and still have a paper jam issue....
I researched this page some more and found out this: "Most of the time the problem is caused by a bad coupler gear You can also remove the fuser and manually rotate the gear on top. Watch the large gear on the heat roller for broken teeth. You can look inside the printer and see the coupler gear that drives the fuser. It's usually discolored yellow and missing teeth."
Do I need to buy the HP LaserJet 4/4+/5 Fuser Jam Repair Kit
When the printer warms up I can hear clicking or crunching sound while the printer is running, so I think I need to buy and repalce this part....
Thanks,
John

Pull the rollers out and reinstall them. Make sure that they snap in place.
Since you didn't go near the fuser when you replaced the rollers(that's rite isn't it), it's probably not the fuser.
Do you get the error immediately on power up, or just when attempting the feed paper?

Yes replacing the coupler gear should fix your problem. Did you visually inspect the coupler gear? You can easily check it with the fuser out and rotate the gear to reveal any broken teeth.
