Laserjet 4. How do I get to memory in printer?

Hey all, have just bought a few Laserjets, and can't figure out, how to get panels off/open to access the Ram, and I don't know where the ram is eithier.
Any help much apprecited. Please be specific.

All you need to do is: 1) Remove the right side panel, there are no screws - simply open the top lid, push down on the side panel tab on the right and remove. 2)With the panel removed you will see a grey metal plate with two hex-head phillips screws located by a green plastic tab. Remove the screws and open the metal door. You will see four slots that the memory is installed in. The memory can only fit in one way. Hope this helps.

Have worked it out.
Why though wont the Laserjet work with any type of EDO ram, have tried a few different 4, 8 and 16 meg EDO sticks.. no luck
Except for a 4meg I had spare out of my Optra?
