When i power on the printer the memory count goes to 32 M then all stars then nothing.

If there is a network card installed, turn the printer off, unscrew the network card and remove it, reboot the printer... if it boots up fine, replace the JetDirect card...

Try re-seating the formatter, jetdirect card and any dimms on it.(firmware and/or memory).
I have seen this problem and have had success doing this.
You would be wise to clean all applicable connectors, too.

You would need 64 mb to access the network functions if you have an on-board NIC. The 32mb chip may just be bad. Try another dimm. Firmware could be halting, and if you have a jetdirect card, it could just need a firmware upgrade.
