Help!
I purchased a used HP4250 printer with only 30,000 pages printed & "with toner", BUT I find that it has a Q1338A (for HP4200 series)cartridge in it and I cannot get it to pull out. Any tips?
Many thanks,

It sounds like someone jammed it in there. One thing to check is the curved plastic piece that connects to the top cover. When you raise the cover it pulls back the nylon coupling that transmits mechanical power to the toner cartridge. If this is disconnected from the top cover then the cartridge will not come out.

You may be able to disconnect this piece from the top cover and pull it up a little more and see if that helps.

Otherwise you are just going to have to brute force it out of there. The sildes that guide the cartridge in there are pretty strong and should not be damaged. Often the difference between similar cartridges is a small extrusion on the side of the cartridge. They change it slightly to make it incompatible.

After you get the cartridge out look carefully for damage and broken plastic.

Good Luck! Please let us know how you did it!

Check to see if the pully-arm that is attached to the hood that you open up to reveal the toner cartridge isn't disconnected. if its disconnected, the little motor driver that spins the toner cartridge will not release from the toner cartridge making it difficult, if not impossible to pull the cartridge from your printer. Sometimes the pully-arm will break, or somehow become loose from the tray hood. Just find the pully arm, pull up on it and it will release the cartridge. Pretty simple.

Im working on a Canon ImageCLASS MF4150 today. Its toner cartridge was stuck because of this pully-arm. The pully arm is automatically in down position, engaging the toner driver into the toner cartridge. All I did was grab some needle nose pliers, pull the arm out of the slot, and reattached it to the cartridge bay hood with a screw. Wallah, done! now no paper jams either because the motor successfully engages the toner cartridge every time with the tray hood reconnected to the pully arm.

many paper jam errors, as well as paper jams are a result of the motor not spinning the toner cartridge properly. check the pully arm. I've included some pictures so you know what I'm talking about.
