HP LJ4000 pulling from wrong tray

printer is set to TRAY 1=FIRST. Printer will not print from tray 1 unless I partially pull out tray 2 otherwise printer pulls from tray2. I have this printer for many years and it used to work properly.

swap the two trays. Make sure that the paper size is correct.

I beleive the tray 1 first setting corresponds with the manual feed on/off setting so try changing that and see if that helps. You cannot swap the trays because tray 1 is the manual feed tray.
