HP Laserjet 1200

I am working on an HP Laserjet 1200. It started making a high pitch squeal the other day and it the page was coming out distorted. Now it just prints a black page. Any idea what could be causing this?

Failing Laser Scanner causes that high pitch squeal ... we carry them at PrinterTechs; a common part to fail on this series, unfortunately...
