I just did a clean install of Win XP on my computer. I am unable to install the HP LaserJet 6P in Win XP. I have tried letting Win XP install it as well as installing it manually using the driver I downloaded from HP's web site.
I get the error message:
"Error Message: Cannot Install Hardware. An Error Occurred During the Installation of the Device."
Any suggestions?
TIA.

Can you install other printers? Can you print a demo page from the printer? My guess is that it is a Windows problem.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I did try but without success so it was obviously a Window problem. I gave up and did another clean install of Windows XP and the first thing I did was to make sure that I could install the printer.
The printer installed and I burned an image with Norton Ghost so it will not happen again.

Hi
It might be that the printer driver files were not copied from the windows disk to the hdd when you installed.
