Fellow techs,
After replacing the lever lock bar, underneath the toner motor assy. (which they don't even discuss in the manual), I'm now getting a 59.C error.
The toner motor assy (consisting of four motors and tons of gears) was a ***** to reinstall due to having to line up several lose gears.
Anyway, after finding a way to insure all gears plugged into position exactly, I can now rule out any jammed gears.
Engine test - failed
Diagnostic menu / component tests
fuser motor - OK
toner (aka - transfer) motors - OK
none of the other tests seem to work - they keep asking to remove cartridge(s) before test ...even after cartridge(s) are removed.

Manual says: seperation drive assy, fuser, memory pcb, check connectors

Has anyone had any experience with this 59.C error?

Thanks in advance.... DCO

If you don't have it, you're going to need a good set of picture instructions for this repair ! This is one of the trickiest repairs you can do on a LaserJet printer ... the error you're getting is still going to be a gear alignment issue.

Anyway, here's the issue:
"59.C0 Error"
"One of the two drive gears on the engine is NOT correctly
inserted. Remove MDA and re-align gears "

Ensure the two "loose" gears have the correct alignment and are on the frame before installing the MDA. Look for the arrows on the frame, the triangle hole goes there, and the small holes at top and bottom of the gears match the captive gears of the toner cam shafts. Toner cam shafts should all have the open side facing down.

Thanks Mike and Steve,
I've been busy with other systems and am now just getting back to this 3000.
I actually used tape and paper clips to temporarily keep those loose gears in place as I installed the assy. I thought I had it , but I'll try it again
Thanks
Doug

That was it. That gear assy. just needs to be CAREFULLY positioned into place and fastened. Third time was the charm.
Thanks guys
