Laserjet 5mp 20 Mem Overflow

Hello all,
Laserjet 5mp powers on to ready status. Once a self-test or printer test from a Win XP Home machine requested a fatal error occurs. The secondary, more specific error is 20 mem overflow.

Have added more memory from crucial memory. Same error occurs. Replaced old memory with new memory same error.

Any thoughts? :confused:

Things you can try for the MEM OVERFLOW error code.
Also you might want to Double-check your error code to be sure it's truly the MEM OVERFLOW error code.

1. Make sure the Windows print queue is cleared out and all print jobs are canceled (reboot your computer, if there are any jobs in the print queue, it will notify you as you're shutting down) ...

2. Do a Cold Reset on the 5MP ... Hold down the RESET button for less than 20 seconds after turning the power on.

3. Try NVRAM initialization ... Hold RESET button for more than 20 seconds after turning power on.

4. Try printing without any extra memory installed. (The extra memory is only for multi-environment printing, like printing from Mac, so Windows should print fine without it).

5. Replace formatter (probably not worth replacing on this machine, though).
