13 paper jam

My Laserjet 4+ was crunching up the paper right as it entered the fuser. I found some broken teeth in the fuser and got a maintenance kit. I installed it but I now have a error of "13 paper jam" all the time. Before I started it had this error after it crunched the paper into the fuser. It no longer says warming up at power on either now. Is this a lost cause?

Normally when you replace the Fuser with broken teeth you also need to replace the gear assembly. The gear assembly teeth turn the fuser teeth so it is not uncommon for teeth to be broken on there as well.

Unfortunately there are no stripped gears. I think I may have wasted $100 for a maintenance kit : (
