I've got a LJ3000dn that randomly throws 13.01.00 errors. The problem is that they don't use tray 1, ever! It only happens at the start of a print job, before the printer even tries to pickup any paper. I've printed out the same one page email about 50 times and the error message has poped up about 16 times. Opening and closing the printer always clears the message. As usual, I'm open to suggestions...

Are you saying the printer is trying to pull paper from Tray 1, even with paper absent from tray 1 and present in Tray 2?
That would mean that the Tray 1 paper sensor is probably sticking, causing it to think there is paper in Tray 1 ...

At the risk of sounding mean, I don't think this executive secretary ever figured out that the big number '1' on the front of the printer meant anything. She has always used tray two and just switched the paperstops in the tray for letter and legal. There is no movement of any kind before the error pops up and it doesn't always give an error when printing. We have only been pulling paper from tray two, and it may print the same one page email three to ten times before the error appears on the printer. The default tray is set to two.
After the first page successfully prints, any remaining pages on every multi page job print fine. When I put paper into tray one to print, I never had any problems. One last thing: tray one is set to manual feed. I really hate random errors!

Why is it a problem that THEY don't use tray 1, ever?
Who are THEY?
Is it possible that THEY think that 13.01 refers to tray 1?
