I have a page of monochrome laser printed text (serifed font similar to Times New Roman) that is riddled with a fine regular diamond pattern of small (0.1mm diameter) circular voids through which the paper shows. Anyone know of a printer that might employ this as a toner-saving scheme as an alternative to conventional draft mode? The white circles make it look a little like the "ecofont" san-serif font except my pattern appears more like some kind of overall reversed halftoning and square with the page instead of following the individual letters. Sorry if I am off topic, I'm new here. Many thanks.

To be honest for the halftone to cover the entire page it sounds more like a print defect than a font type or an intentional printing ...

I don't know the answer to your specific question -- but was "reading into it" and wondered if the question you were really asking was "I already have a printer and I am looking for ways to save money on toner", or "I need to get a printer that is cheap on toner".

Or maybe you just liked the look of that font and want to duplicate it?

Networked? If using a 600 or 615, try a newer 620.
Update the firmware, even if same.Perhaps the application is doing it?
