Hello,

I have an 8150 that does not seem to be reading toner levels correctly. Regardless of the toner that is installed, the toner gauge in the "Configuration Page" always shows as out.

This became an issue with end-users because they were printing lengthy reports over the weekend, and the Control Panel never showed "Toner Low", but the toner ran out over the weekend and their reports were either blank or didn't print.

With a new toner installed, it still shows the gauge as empty. I've tried switching toners and using both HP-brand toners and Office Max toners. Regardless, it still reads empty...

Any thoughts?

Check the lever on the inside right bottom of the toner door for cracks.
Check the toner contacts inside on the right guide, three that are push button and one is a tab.

I checked the contacts earlier today, and they all looked clean.

When you say:

Check the lever on the inside right bottom of the toner door for cracks.

are you talking about the door that flips up to access the toner?

Who's the maker of the cartridges?

Try the HVPS, it connects to the toner level connector in the toner cartridge.

Yes, the right side has a piece that acuates the sensor.
Sometimes slamming the lid shut can dink the sensor, but redcow's right, the H/v may be the fix.
