I can't get my HP Photosmart 7960 printer to work with my new computer, Vista 64 bit. I installed the original DVD that came with the printer and all 3 of the downloads on the HP site that are supposed to connect it to the OS (Vista 64 bit). The printer shows under "Computer" (as default) but will not even print a test page saying there is not a connection between printer and computer.

Control panel/printers/photosmart 7960/properties/ports.
Do you have an IP address assigned for the printer or USB connection?
I have the same printer, but Vista 32. My printer is attached via jet direct. If your printer is network connected - ping the IP.
Have you tried a different USB cable and/or port?
Have you reloaded the drivers?

via USB. The connecttion, I would think, is OK because the computer reconizes the printer. I will try installing the drivers again. Do I need to uninstall what I already installed? If so, how do I delete those I already installed? Thanks
