checked connections changed electrical cord, connected direct to electrical outlet?

It sounds like the power supply has gone bad. We have a lot of the 2200 which is a sister machine and I have only seen this a couple of times. The board is located under the printer, above the paper tray area. It is a major job to repair this and may cost more than the printer is worth, even if you get the part and put it in yourself. May be time to look for a new/refurb printer?

Yes, if you are not a printer tech you're probably better off replacing the printer than trying to replace the power supply on that machine...

we still carry the LaserJet 2100 printers refurbished, so you could replace it and but keep the same toner, cables, driver, etc.
