Greetings, I have an HP LaserJet 8000 which has the add on 2000 sheet input tray, and the vertical transfer unit for this has begun squeaking. I have seen grease for printer gears in the past, but for the life of me I can't find a place online that sells it. What is the industry name for this gear grease/lubricant/oil and where can I purchase some online?

White Lithium Grease is available at Auto parts and Electronic Parts stores.
Oils are not the best except for carriage rods that slide.
Get long swabs to apply near areas you see a c-clip or plastic bushing.

You can use Triflow lubricant to clean the bushings for the rollers which are brass. There is 1 press roller that has plastic bushings that you can also use it one to clean them. I either remove the bushings, spray them with Triflow and using a small slotted screwdriver and a rag wipe the bushings clean. Then I reinstall. If I dont have time I may spray the bushings while moving the rollers back and forth, then use canned air (blow away from the rubber so you dont get Triflow on them)to blow out the Triflow. After both procedures I use a silicone type grease on the bushings. 9 out of 10 its junk and gunk in the bushings that makes the squeaking. If you remove the little gears to get to the bushings (there are three and they are all the same size), be careful not to drop/lose the in them. :)
