Hi All,

I am replacing my much-loved LJ 5 with an all-in-one. What is the best bang for the buck AiO? Black and white laserjet is fine, PPM not important, this is for home use but must have a network card. I loved my LJ5 and want something as reliable!

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of good things to say about All-in-Ones... :-)
They are not known for their reliability, so it's hard to recommend one :-) Because of the many functions built into an All-in-One, there is a lot that can go wrong.

NOTHING today is as reliable as the LaserJet 5. We've seen LaserJet 5's with millions of pages on them.

The toner cartridges for an All-in-One is also going to be much more expensive than for an older printer like the LaserJet 5 (because remanufactured toners are available).

If you need fax & scanning capability, my first suggestion would be to get an independent scanner and/or fax machine ... if you definitely need an All-in-One, you could keep your printer, or get a similar reliable cheaper-on-toner printer as your main printer, and use the All-in-One as a backup...

At our office, we use HP LaserJet 4000's as our main printers, and instead of using an All-in-One we actually have an independent scanner, and also an indepedent fax machine ...
