We have just noticed a fault on one of our many HP 2200 machines, one we have never come across before.

Certain letters in a document, but only in certain fonts, are shifted 25mm to the right with an underscore line leading back to its proper position.

On a configuration page this effects all the lower case "d"'s, but it affects certain other letters on user documents ("e"'s and "o"'s in Times New Roman Bold Italic for instance).

Has anyone had anything like this before?

We have a formatter board on order for another printer so we will probably try that in it when it arrives to see if it fixes the problem.

You are on the right track, in my experience, the formatter is the only thing that could cause the problem you describe. Providing, of course, that the problem exists with the printer, not software.

Thanks,

the other thing we are investigating is driver issues (it is all network printing), but seeing as the problem also manifests itself on the test page generated by the printer itself, we can't see this being the problem.

Strange thing is, we seem to have had a few formatter board problems on the 2100/2200 series recently.
