I have a knocking noise after que to print and stops a second or two just before paper begins to feed. half way through, the printer stops and only half the page is printed incomplete. can anyone help me with this problem. thank you very much in advance. i wish not to part with this printer i have had since '94. it's great even if the cartridges are expensive. :(

Same problem with the manual feed tray?

yes, just tried the manual feed and does the same knocking noise and printing stopped in the middle, then i slightly closed the lid by accident and noticed that the ink cartridge was shaking. could the ink cartridge be at fault?

If the drum is all bound up you could have that problem. Try another toner cartridge
