I have two HP 6Ps that I use in my internet cafe in the Philippines. I recently replaced the toner cartridge (bought at Staples in the US), and there are marks on both sides, small, about two inches apart, like smudge marks. The print is great, but with the marks I cannot charge for a defective copy. I took the cartridge out and tried it in my other machine with the same results, so I know it's the cartridge itself. Any suggestions, or do I have to wait for my next trip to the US?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Long time since I was in the Philippines. If there is an HP Service Center there they should be able to replace the bad cartridge. If this is not the case you could try cleaning off the green roller with a soft cloth dipped in alcohol. Could also try printing off a bunch of pages and see if it clears up. I would think that someone in Manila should sell toner cartridges?

Thanks Al for you input. I have tried cleaning the green bar, but no change. Next time I am in Manila I will go to an HP center. We have them here where I live in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya (six hours north of Manila), but no one carries the cartridge for the 6P. And typically, there is a no return policy on anything here, even the major department stores don't usually take returns...but it's worth a shot.

So where were you in the Philippines? There is a lot of epats here now...getting tough to make it in the states. Check out www.livinginthephilippines.com. And if you ever get back this way let me know and we can do lunch!

Thanks again.

Is the cartridge you purchased a genuine HP brand? My guess is it's a remanufactured "compatible" ... We almost never see the genuine HP brand toners fail right "out of the box" ...If you're not sure, do a Google Image search and compare the packaging you have for your toner with HP's packaging... If you didn't buy the genuine HP brand, then an HP Service Center would not replace it for you.
