hello to all the forum members!

this is a great site. i was using the search to dig up old threads and i learnt quite a few handy tricks. i am here to stay!

now i have a very specific problem.

i opened up a HP LJ 2200D for cleaning and repairs. everything is okay, but i have a gear spare and it is drving me spare!

i am in the middle of re-assembly, and for the life of me, i cant seem to remember from where i removed it. as you can probably understand, this is the first time i am opening a 2200D :)

the gear is a loose piece, seated on a gray plastic base.
the base is made from gray plastic, and the gear has 13 teeth.
the base has two holes - one for a plastic screw, and the other, maybe for a locating dowel.
the shaft is a red plastic piece - and the gear is tight to turn by design.

from what i suspect, it comes from somewhere in the gear side towards the feeder side of the printer.

i'll post a few pictures shortly - as soon as i restart my computer.

but if anyone can identify, adn tell me where this part gets installed, i'll be eternally grateful.

thanx in advance,

Ark!

file:///tmp/moz-screenshot-2.jpgLook at your top picture.
Solenoid is at the bottom. There is a gear with a spring that engages the solenoid
Straight up from that gear is a small gear.
Look due left from there. That's where the lost gear goes.
If you're still stuck, I can email you the page from the manual.
If you have the manual look at page 156

in the Hindu religion, cows are considered sacred and holy, and prayers are offered to them so that the devotees may live happily and prosperously.

in PT.com, redcow should be considered sacred and holy for his/her knowledge of printers and all things geary.

you have my eternal gratitude, my friend. the problem was solved in one fell swoop. i forgot about the sliding thing, and was trying to fit holes to holes.

one must never forget that one must try to slide in and out to fit an outie to an innie.

I have seen that gear too, when I was taking my 2200DTN apart, that gear mates with the paper pickup roller.
