HP 1200 Black Smudges (pic included)

Hi,

My HP 1200 series started printing with the page covered in black smudges, (image below). The text looks fine beneath, but I can't figure out what's causing this.

I have tried cleaning all the dust from the toner cartridge area and the media path.

Can anyone help?

Did you try a different toner cartridge?
Could be a bad ground. try running a 1/2 test.
Looking at the output again...I would guess the drum. Change the cartridge.

Try a Toner cartridge first ... if that doesn't help, the scanner is also prone to failing on this machine...
