HP Officejet Pro L7780: prints partial faxes

but copies are fine.

are parts available anywhere for these things? I believe the customer tried upgrading the firmware (not 100% sure of this). They also complain about files not being stored correctly when transfering to a removable drive type device. They end up being blank.

(also...they say it is older than 1 year, so warranty is over)

That sounds a lot like a driver problem and computer hardware/operating system issues than anything to do with the printer.

I'd go with getting the driver scrubber from HP to remove all traces of the HP driver and then try reinstalling, after they'd dealt with any computer issues.

Also worth trying a completely different machine with the driver only to see if the printer really is borked.

I have a few more questions for you...

Is it the top 1/3 of the page or the bottom 1/3 of the page? Since it copies fine, I assume that a self-test page also prints fine. Which leaves a driver problem as stated above. Does it have the problem on every print job? What application are you printing from? Do all applications have the same issue?

Most likely the Fax PCB is faulty.
