51.1 error on LaserJet4100n

Hi Everyone,

I am working on a 4100 that is giving a 51.1 error. I have replaced the Engine Controller Board and the Laser Scanner but I still have the issue with the error. It will also occasionally give a 51.2 error.

I am at a loss with this and any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and have a great day!

Well, the 2 components you replaced are the usual suspects for this error (the DC controller and the Scanner) ... Both the DC controller and the scanner are "common failure" parts on this model ...

I assume you have checked/re-checked the scanner cables to make sure they are correctly plugged in ...
Also -- the parts you installed, particularly the scanner -- were they known to be working, not just pulled from parts machine...?

Thanks for the input Steve. Both the controller and laser scanner were new/refurb from our supplier. I have gone through and reseated the connectors on the controller and the scanner assembly again. Now I get 52.0 error.

I only wish my boss would let me throw this thing off the roof. Any and all ideas and opinions ware appreciated.

Have you tried a new cartridge? Make sure the shutter on the laser/scanner is working.

Well I have resolved the issue. Looks like the laser scanner from Depot America was DOA. I swapped one from another 4100 and the problem follwed the laser scanner.

I will be contacting Depot for an exchange. Just wanted to let you all know. Thanks for the assistance and have a great day.
