Hi:
This is an interesting problem. I assume that the 4250 is a recent addition? Some questions: What is the model of the NIC in the 4250? What driver are you using in the NT4 box? Have you tried the latest NT4 driver for the 4250? One is listed on the HP site.
If all else fails maybe you could get an older printer like an HP5n and hook it to the NT4 box with a centronix cable.
You could also try one of the HP Zone Rep's. Since there is an NT4 driver for this printer they may have a patch or a work around for your situation.

a lot of 4250's have the nic built into the board. Is it built in or jet direct card? If its jet direct, which one? There are issues with the 615 nics.

I wasn't aware that HP made a 4250 driver for NT4. I would attempt to print using a LaserJet 4 driver, which is built into the operating system.

If the LaserJet 4 driver works, but the 4250 doesn't, then something within the 4250 driver is corrupt. Might be a good idea to remove it and load up something from HP that is more current, say the 4000/4100 driver if it is still available.

Why not the 4250 driver? It's not a 4000/4100!
Your program may need the printer to be set up within it.

Well, someone at HP once told me they had resources at one time to write NT drivers for the 4000 and the 4100 (way back when it was still a supported operating system!) When the 4250 was released, NT was out the door, so all they did was relabel the 4000/4100 driver. So using a 4000/4100 driver is certainly a valid thing to try.

That said, I say use the LJ4 driver just because the user will be eliminating the HP driver. Seeing how the 4250 uses PCL5 just like the LJ4, there isn't any problems with using that driver.

IF the MS driver works, it proves that 1) it isn't a printer issue, 2) it isn't a network/communication issue and 3) that it isn't an application issue.

That leaves the issue within the HP driver. But that's just me and how I learned to troubleshoot "I can't print but everything looks okay." ;)

 There are other questions that I would normally ask like,
1) What apps are you using to print with?
2) Which specific driver are you using? PCL5, PCL6 or PS?
3) Is the print port directed straight to the network port of the printer? Or is it going through a server?

Uh, what's with this guy above?
You may have a security/password issue with the NT spooler service.
Can you use WebJet admin? This may give you more control with this difficulty. Since others print via network, I assume they are not on an NT box, the printer is not the problem.
Can you have a dedicated printer for the NT Unit?
If you are using a MICR toner for checks, You should not let others use it for any other job.
